Today we went about 5 miles from our house to the Mary E
Theler Community Wetlands.
My husband wanted to take some self portraits he needed for his Photography class, and of course he wanted us in them. They turned out fantastic!
I am going to publish these when I get a chance!!!
Well... To me they were fun, because he took a bunch of pictures of our sweet little boys. And I wasn't the one alone trying to get pictures of us, and chasing the boys, and scolding them alone. It is nice to go on outings with my hubby, for a change! We are having lovely weather today, and I should be outside with my boys more often like today. There it s parking lot right across from the Elementary school that I went to growing up, (
Belfair Elementary on Hwy 3 where my dear Mother diligently teaches 3rd grade at)
You walk down a gravel path and you ENTER the wetlands through "Nature's gate"
and Iron gate made by steel workers in Port Orchard WA.

After that I would guess we walked for about 1/4 of a mile down to the North Mason School district Wetlands classroom. It brings back memories, as I took an class at the venue in
Highxchool called Aquatic Worlds. We did all sorts of cool and interesting projects. We learned how to test water for fecal
coliforms NEAT! We got to help out with TONS of projects to maintain the
wetlands park. We got to tromp
around in boots, and rain jackets in the dead of winter, and take water tests, and count bugs, you name it!
We walked briskly for times sake past about a zillion pretty things down there. All sorts of native plants,

ponds, creeks and about 3 trails that we didn't choose. We chose the boardwalk trail. You walk down through some marshy areas over a few creeks, and then out to the salt marshes. Right now the cattails are full of fuzz and we were lucky the sun was smiling down on us with warm rays. We walked out to the end of the boardwalk to get some pictures all the
squirming, and chasing, and got 2 count them... 2 family shots with a self timer ha ha! But a ton of the boys being curious and looking at the Hood Canal, and the scenery, and our dear 3 year old son noticed an abandoned 5 gallons bucket in the mud that I think he coveted.

Out there it is so serene, and i recommended this place to anyone. I know tons of people that walk the wetlands trails everyday to keep up on their fitness goals.
It is great to be back in this community! I actually realize dhow much I love
Belfair!
The boys took a nap as soon as we got home because not only was the walk very brisk, but so was the air. Cool and refreshing! Oh I love it that it is almost
SPRING!
I will update post and add our pictures here ASAP! As Todd has to take his camera to schoool I never get a chance to upload things. Maybe I will wish for a camera for my Birthday... TEN DAYS whew... till I am thirty!
